JOTON manufacture generator control panels using both analogue and digital technologies. Our generator control switchboards range from 600kW to 2500kW. Busbars can be constructed up to 6000A with100kA fault rating.

Our standard analogue control panel is based around the Ross Hill Controls AC control module, which has proven its reliability and ruggedness over 30 years as the industry standard for rig123.net' target='_blank'>drilling rigs.

This control module was designed specifically for systems where electric drives introduce distortion on to the generator bus. It is a complete control and instrumentation solution in a compact package which is easily maintained or replaced in the unlikely event of failure.

The module incorporates:

  • Engine speed (governor) control
  • Voltage regulation
  • Real and reactive load sharing
  • KW, KVAR and total Current metering
  • Overfrequency, underfrequence, loss of pulse pick-up and overvoltage protection
  • Diagnostic meter

Our digital solution is based on the Woodward 2301D digital load sharinga and speed control package, and the Basler DECS-200 Digital Excitation Control System.

Woodward 2301D Digital Load Sharing and Engine Speed Control

The 2301D provides control in either isochronous, droop, or base load. The 2301D will allow for soft load transfer when being added to or removed from a bus. In addition it has the following features:

  • Actuator current range 020 mA, 420 mA, 0200 mA.
  • Speed trim with external raise and lower switches.
  • Tunable rates.
  • External setting of analog speed reference input or an external analog base load reference.
  • Start fuel limiter / Manifold Air Pressure limiter
  • Analog output
  • Discrete outputs
  • Fieldbus options

Basler DESC-200 Digital Excitation Control System

The DECS-200 Digital Excitation Control System can accommodate 32Vdc, 63Vdc, or 125Vdc applications up to 15Adc. This unique flexibility provides precision control of generators of virtually any size. The DECS-200 also incorporates a pulse width modulated power stage, which improves system performances in non-linear load applications.

Features include:

  • Microprocessor-based design
  • True RMS sensing, single or three phase
  • 0.25% Voltage Regulation Accuracy
  • Paralleling compensation
  • Underfrequency compensation or V/Hz Ratio Limiter
  • Soft start buildup
  • Field Current Regulation Mode
  • On and off-line Maximum Excitation Limiters
  • Stator Current Limiter
  • Var and Power Factor Controllers
  • Exciter Diode Monitoring (EDM)
  • Sequence of Events Recording
  • Fieldbus options
